so recently i decided to finally make use of my 4TB hard drive by torrenting literally every piece of media that i could possibly ever want, and i remembered a post i saw once about how a lot of people dont know how to get Free Shit on the internet. and being a huge nerd, i got the idea to throw together a little guide
so here we go. how to get free shit on the internet/I WOULD Download A Car
also! once youve gotten your movies and tv shows, i highly recommend using Plex! Plex is a free media system that will scan your libraries and automatically organize things for you! the end result will be something like this (taken from my own server):
its like having your own personal netflix/hulu! and Plex does all the work! all you have to do is tell it which files to scan and it puts all this together automatically!
you can use Plex on your computer, tv, stream box, phone….pretty much anywhere. and like i said, the core functionality is totally free! there are some premium features you can pay for ($5 a month), but they arent required

Additional Notes On Software
while usually good for video files, try to avoid thepiratebay when it comes to software. it has a much higher volume of viruses compared to other places you can torrent from
i personally recommend 1337x.to for software torrents
in general, older uploaders are more likely to be legitimate. a user who has been providing torrents for years is more likely to be safe than someone who just created their account yesterday. thats because the former likely would have been reported and shut down already if malicious
look for VIP uploaders. on 1337x, these torrents will be marked with a blue line by the uploaders name. this means that the people who run the site have verified that user to be trustworthy. while you should still always err on the side of caution for ANY torrent, only downloading from VIPs gives you much better odds of avoiding malware
never torrent without an antivirus!!
great to see someone passing on the knowledge, it really seems like younger people have no idea how to get free shit anymore lmao one thing, I wouldn’t really recommend using piratebay, it really fell of in the recent years and I’ve seen reports of malware from it. for movies and tv shows, I recommend rutracker (.org not .ru). it’s easily operable with google translate if you don’t know russian and they have really good quality stuff.
Yeah it’s really unfortunate but you’re right. piratebay’s reliability and quality has dropped quite a bit. I still use it for movies that don’t seem to be seeded much elsewhere and that I don’t feel like messing with/am not pressed about high quality encoding. . But 1337x.to has become my primary go-to

Plex went corporate and closed-source. A resource that used to be for watching your own locally stored library now tries to sell you things. I recommend looking into Emby or Jellyfin instead.

he is born disabled. his body hurts, and he can’t walk properly the way the other children do. he doesn’t understand why. he’s a little boy. but he plays with wooden boats and pulls toys on a string.
somebody makes him a tunic. they sew ducks onto it in red and green and yellow and blue. the bright colours of a child.
the little boy is eight years old, and he’s going to be king now. there’s a big ceremony about it. he doesn’t really fully understand what’s going on, because he’s eight, but he wears the tunic with the brightly coloured ducks for the occasion because he loves it. look at his ducks! aren’t they great?
he is a child. the adults around him manipulate and coax him to gain more power for themselves. he still plays with toys.
as a teenager, not yet an adult, he fathers children. they do not survive. he’s not even old enough to have full agency in his job and is still being manipulated, but he had babies and they died.
he does not make it to his twenties. at eighteen or nineteen years old he dies, and is buried. his babies, so tiny, are buried with him.

yeah i think that like. especially with historical figures in your mind people who were kings and queens or important nobles were adults. even if you know how old they were it doesn’t really click. it doesn’t seem real
but then you get something like a little tunic with brightly coloured ducks on it and it hits you like a fucking truck that this really was a little kid and no matter how far removed you are a little kid is still a little kid. their brains didn’t develop any quicker back then. he was just as developed/mature mentally as any 8 year old now. he had cartoonish animals on his clothes and he played with toy boats and probably terrorised the local cat population.
tutankhamun was a child and he didn’t make it to adulthood because he was unfortunate enough to be a very important child
his dad died when he was 8. he saw his own babies die when he was still just a boy himself.
but he had brightly coloured little ducks on his favourite shirt, and he kept it.

tutankhamun had a little pair of sandals with ducks on them. he had earrings decorated with ducks. he kept those, and other items of childhood clothing. some toys. keepsakes. things he loved, and treasured. he kept them all in a little wooden chest. the chest… was carved with ducks.
and that little duck chest, filled with things he kept from his childhood, was buried with him. maybe he was keeping them for the little babies who did not make it. maybe they just reminded him of good days and fun times.

Why aren’t more animals that live in grassy areas green for camouflage? Horses? Cows? Zebras? Rodents? Why don’t they have the same color scheme as WWII-era infantry?
Iirc there’s nothing or close to nothing that can produce green color in nature except chlorophyll, and most predators are red-green blind, anyway.

I looked it up and frogs appear green by reflecting blue light off a crystal-packed cell layer and flitering it through yellow pigment in the layer above! Pretty much all mammals have hair covering their skin so this isnt very feasible for them
